On the 2nd of October 2019, the SAICE UCT Student Chapter hosted the 10th Annual Cocktail Evening in the New Engineering Building at UCT. The primary aim of this event is to expose civil engineering students to developments in industry, as well as building important relationships with professional engineers and learning as much as they can from them. This networking opportunity also aims to give students a chance to seek mentorship and guidance from these professionals, as well as potential vacation work or internships.
This year the cocktail evening hosted Aurecon, Mott MacDonald, Fairbrothers, Engineering Ministries International, PRDW and HHO Consulting Engineers, as well as Mr Andre Frieslaar of HHO as the keynote speaker. The UCT Student Chapter would like to extend their gratitude to Mr Frieslaar, for sharing his experience, wisdom and knowledge with everyone who attended. A big thank you goes to all of the companies who gave up their time to interact with and inspire students – this event would not be possible without you!
