PATERSON AND COOKE LAB VISIT

SAICE Western Cape members explored Paterson and Cooke’s Slurry Test Facility on 20 September 2023. They were taken through seven different stations, where they learned about slurry classification, thickening processes, and chemical analysis. The tour provided an exclusive look at the technology and expertise that drove innovation in the mining industry. It was an eye-opening experience that showcased the behind-the-scenes workings of this cutting-edge facility.

Mr Mike Killick, the Director of Bulk Services at the City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate, presented the City’s progress on the New Water Programme on Wednesday, 22 February. OBITUARY

SAICE Western Cape is saddened to hear of the passing of Emeritus Professor George Ekama, who passed away at the age of 73 on Sunday 19 February.

He obtained his BSc degree, a postgraduate diploma and a PhD degree in Engineering, all from the University of Cape Town (UCT). From 1978, he worked as a Research Officer at UCT
