Is Transport Planning and Implementation Failing 75% of our Citizens?

We are honoured to have presenting Prof. Marianne Vanderschuren of the University of Cape Town, Centre for Transport Studies. Her research, teaching and society related projects put major emphasis on transport improvements for vulnerable road users, transport equity and sustainability, including the reduction of road crashes. The analysis of (big) data, transport modelling and the development and use of assessment tools assist in the identification of improved future pathways.

The 2020 Snape Memorial Lecture critically reviews transport planning and implementation in South Africa, over the past 20 years.

The annual Snape Memorial Lecture was instituted by the SAICE Western Cape Branch in 1953 as a tribute to the late Professor Alfred Snape.
