The 2016 Regional Awards Competition presentations had a fitting turnout of 80 attendees. The projects put forward were: Realignment of 4km of the N7 for Clanwilliam Dam, Construction of the Northern Areas Sewer – Phase 2, Road and road/rail near Spier, Century City MiCiti IRPTN Station, Flood damage repair work near Botlierskop, Mossel Bay, Bellville Waste Management Facility and Phola Park Stormwater Upgrade. The first six were in the “technical excellence” category, the seventh in the “community involvement” category. The winner was the City of Cape Town’s Phola Park Stormwater Upgrade (and they say the “after” photo hasn’t been photoshopped). However, all seven projects achieved scores in the upper 70’s or better, and the panel recommended that all should go forward to the national competition! Our congratulations to the winners and to all the entrants on the standard of the presentations. Our thanks to AECOM, EFG Engineers, HHO Africa, Kantey & Templer and Mott MacDonald who sponsored the event.
