In the week of 4th March 2019, the SAICE Presidential delegation including Acting SAICE CEO, Steven Kaplan, SAICE 2019 President, Brian Downie, and SAICE Communications, Lorraine Mpofana made their way to Cape Town for a 2-day visit to the Western Cape. As part of their visit, the Presidential Delegation engaged with HOD’s, Staff and students of the three Western Cape tertiary institutions (CPUT, UCT and Stellenbosch)

Branch Meeting: A Brave New World - Feb 2019
Our world is changing… and changing fast! The exponential growth of technology in areas like big data and artificial intelligence threaten to cause major disruptions to the way we work. Old economic models are failing, urbanisation is accelerating, the global population is growing exponentially, and the planet is under pressure. Engineers have a critical role to play in meeting these challenges, but only if we can ride the wave of innovation and be ready to adapt.
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
The year got off to a roaring start with a presentation on the challenges of big infrastructure projects. We held the water competition. We are currently involved with the planning of the Bridge building competition and the Regional awards evening. Look out for communication regarding the two events.
